Registered Membership via Affiliate Pathway

Eligibility requirements:

  • The individual must have completed at least a Design, Urban Design or Planning related Bachelor’s degree qualification or greater.
  • You must have at least 400 weeks of landscape architecture practice (typically 10 years) working in a role that would typically be filled by a graduate or Registered Member (at least four of which must be completed in Aotearoa New Zealand)
  • Your experience must have been within a team and/or organisation that also includes at least one Registered member (or equivalent status member in other countries)
  • You must follow the identical mentoring process as graduate members, including submitting a portfolio that is signed off by a mentor, group mentor and is reviewed by the Registration Panel

Wondering what to do next if you are an Affiliate member wishing to become Registered?

Firstly, before enrolling in the Registered membership programme, affiliate members who can confirm they meet all of the above requirements will need to choose a Registered landscape architect to be a mentor.

The mentor will be required to accept the mentoring to signify agreement and that they consider the applicant has adequate experience to start the assessment process.

The normal period of mentorship is expected to last 60-90 weeks with the aim to submit the completed documentation within 18 months of the initial enrolment.

To start the process please choose a mentor and then email admin@nzila.co.nz to let us know you are choosing the Affiliate pathway towards Registration for our records.
