Getting there

The venue

The Hastings CBD, where the NZILA Firth Wānanga 2025 will be held, includes the newly refurbished Toitoi – Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events centre encompassing the Opera House and Municipal Building. This beautiful new development in the heart of Hastings city provides historical charm paired with the latest modern functionality.

Getting there

Hawke’s Bay is accessible by land or air, and definitely worth the trip.

Driving to Hawke's Bay is a breeze from anywhere - and the scenery is not too shabby either! From the North/West: We're just a short hop (about 90 mins) from Taupo on the Thermal Explorer Highway (SH5). From the East: Take the Pacific Coast Highway from Gisborne (SH2) into Northern Hawke's Bay and Wairoa.

Air New Zealand flies non-stop to Napier several times a day from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. The airport code for Hawke’s Bay Airport, also known as Napier Airport, is NPE. Book flights on Air New Zealand

Our 3pm finish on Friday 23 May allows time to get to the airport for connections through to Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

Staying there

While Hastings, the location of our event, has relatively limited accommodation options, there’s plenty to consider in Napier and Havelock North! Check out Hawke's Bay Tourism's accommodation guide for whatever type of stay you seek.

We will be running a coach service from Napier (and Havelock North if the demand requires) to and from the Wānanga venue each day for our event delegates. Watch this space for more details.

Stay for the weekend

Why not stay for the weekend? There’s a smorgasbord of things to do, see, eat and drink!
