NZILA president Henry Crothers says the industry is in good shape to weather and work well during this latest lockdown and admits it has come at an extremely busy time for the profession.

"Landscape architects and LA businesses around the country adapted quickly to the pandemic conditions last year and the industry is busier than ever now with fast tracked government projects adding to the work load."

He says there is actually a shortage of skilled labour right now within the profession as evidenced by the number of job ads featuring on the NZILA website.

Crothers believes working from home is here to stay for many work sectors including the landscape architecture industry and the Institute has been quick to pivot to providing frequent webinars to encourage ongoing education, motivation and inspiration even if we are in lockdown.

And he says if LAs here have some downtime - they could consider dialling into the IFLA World Landscape Architects’ Summit being held over the next few days.
