Why It Matters

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is a powerful opportunity to celebrate, uplift, and normalise Te Reo Māori within our professional community. We honour the profound connection between language, whenua, and identity - recognising Te Reo Māori not merely as a means of communication, but as a living embodiment of ancestral knowledge and the land that sustains us.

As we do each year, we warmly invite our Tuia Pito Ora whānau to embrace, acknowledge, and champion Te Reo Māori - not only during this dedicated week, but as an integral and enduring part of our practice in Aotearoa. Let us continue to weave Te Reo into our everyday work, nurturing its growth and presence as a shared and valued norm.

An opportunity to involve the whole whānau and or something you can do at home to celebrate is download from the website the whānaukai cake recipe and learn Te Reo Māori while baking, there are also a number of resources available with great whānaukai recipes.

Hei whakakapi, let’s all find ways to kōrero, ako, and celebrate reo Māori this week and beyond. Together, we keep the language strong.
