Lincoln University Award Winners for 2023

Lincoln University's top landscape architecture students were recognised with the presentation of the NZILA Student Awards at the Canterbury/Westland branch AGM held at Beca's Christchurch office.

Nada Touer (NZILA Canterbury Branch Committee member and Lincoln University Landscape Architecture School senior lecturer) presented the following awards:

NZILA Award of Excellence 2023 - Best student in the second year of studies - Josh Whelan

NZILA Award of Excellence 2023 - Best student in the third year of studies - Daniel Watt (Daniel also received the NZILA Award of Excellence last year in 2022 for the best student in the second year of studies).

The following award winner was unable to attend the event and will collect his award at a later date.

NZILA/Robin Gay Award 2023 -Best student upon completion of the Batchelor of Landscape Architecture degree for academic and studio work
Hamish Murphy

Robin Gay, the namesake of this award was a NZILA Life Member who passed away in December 2008. Mr Gay was honoured with Life Membership of the Institute during 2001 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of the Institute and that of the landscape architecture profession. He was also Vice-President of IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects) in the early 1980s.
