Hamish Murphy, a graduate landscape architect in Boffa Miskell’s Auckland office, has been awarded the NZILA Robin Gay Award. The award is given annually to a fourth-year student who, upon completion of the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree, has demonstrated the highest level of achievement in academic and studio work.
“Being Hamish's team leader at our Tamāki Makaurau office is an absolute pleasure,” says Julia Wick. “His transition from intern to full-time staff has been nothing short of impressive, consistently highlighting his capability, reliability, and all-around awesomeness.
“It comes as no surprise that he attained the highest GPA over his four years of study, and the Robin Gay Award is a testament to his excellence and diligence as a landscape architect. We're eagerly looking forward to witnessing Hamish's future successes and where he goes with his career.”
Hamish’s current project work includes the Three Kings housing development, and the ADAPT Paeroa Co-Living Community.
Alex Smith says, “Since joining us as an intern, and now as a graduate, Hamish has quickly demonstrated that he is a capable, dependable and thoughtful landscape architect. At times I’ve had trouble keeping up with his quick working speed!
“I’m hoping to provide him with some new challenges opportunities to learn on our ADAPT Paeroa project and look forward to seeing how his practice develops over the coming years. We’re fortunate to have him with us.” Alex continues.
Hamish is a graduate member of Tuia Pita Ora New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects, and was the Student Representative for NZILA Canterbury-Westland Branch, 2022. He won the NZILA Student Award of Excellence in 2020 and 2021.
