The Coastal Restoration Trust is a nationwide organisation dedicated to saving and restoring our sand dunes and coastal ecosystems by bringing together the knowledge and experience of communities, iwi and hapū, management authorities, industry, and science organisations.

The Coastal Restoration Trust of New Zealand's annual conference in 2024 will be held at Maketū marae in Kāwhia from 20 to 22 March and is co-hosted by Te Taiao o Kāwhia Moana.

This conference provides a unique chance to discover a variety of coastal ecosystems located on the western Waikato coast. Hoturoa Barclay-Kerr (Tainui) will speak about the history of Kāwhia and Waikato Tainui iwi, as well as how climate change is affecting the Kāwhia and Aotea populations.

You will hear from specialists on invasive species about coastal weeds and how to control them. The workshops will address topics such as selecting the right plant, controlling pest animals that impact our restoration areas, and tracking our progress.

More details about the programme, accommodation, venue and registration can be found at https://www.coastalrestorationconference.org.nz/

Early bird registrations close on 31 January 2024.
