We are pleased to announce that Ernest C. Wong will be presenting the next webinar in the NZILA Streetscape speaker series on Thursday 30 March 2023.

It takes a village - Case studies of urban Landscape Architecture
Based in Chicago, site design group ltd. has been growing their practice over the past 30 years into a vibrantly diverse and innovative landscape architecture firm in America.

Touching on five case studies located around Chicago, he will explain the philosophies of community-based, sustainable urban design. Ernest will describe the process of building consensus and community engagement, design principles, and the persistence of completing projects through numerous challenges. The transformation of open spaces that build communities will be discussed.

Ernest Wong is the founding Principal of site design group ltd. Founded in 1990, site is an award-winning, multi-cultural cutting edge design entity for landscape architecture, urban design and architecture, based in Chicago, Illinois.

Ernest has been instrumental in the success of the landscape architecture profession in the city of Chicago. Under Wong’s leadership the firm has gained a reputation for creative design, thoughtful and beautifully detailed urban spaces, and improving the quality of life in urban neighborhoods. An advocate of contextual urban spaces, Erest has directed award-winning projects including the acclaimed Mary Bartelme Park, Henry Palmisano Park (Stearns Quarry) and Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chicago.

Ernest is a Fellow in the American Society of Landscape Architects, a member of the American Planning Association, Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha International for the Advancement of Land Economics. His commitment to civic leadership is unwavering. Appointed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanual, he is currently a Commissioner on the Chicago Landmarks Commission and the Commission on Cultural Affairs.
