Postponed!
With Omicron predicted to peak in the next 2-3 weeks, a decision has been made to postpone the upcoming Tāmaki Makaurau Public Life Survey.
The decision has been made for two primary reasons - firstly, volunteer safety is paramount during all surveys, and the presence of Omicron makes this very difficult.
Secondly, the presence of the virus will significantly influence the data, and while any data collected would be useful in its own right, it would not reflect a true representation of public life in the city centre.
Many thanks to those of you have volunteered - we will be back in touch once it's safe and appropriate to reschedule.
As in 2010, and again in 2015, we are about to embark on a study of public spaces and public life in the city centre, and we need your help.
The study will measure the changes to public life since our last survey, register what public life looks like right now, and inform what we need to do over the coming years, to ensure that Tāmaki Makaurau continues to be a city for the people!

What we need:
We need reliable volunteers, who can give 4-hours of their time and energy, to team up with Auckland Council & Urban Good, and help deliver the 2022 Tāmaki Makaurau City Centre Public Life Survey.
In exchange, we will provide you with:
- training in human-centred urban research methods;
- coffee to fuel your shift;
- entry to win 1 of 5 spot book prizes;
- a certificate to thank you for your time & energy; and
- good times, from start to finish!
When:
Our surveys run across two days:
Wednesday 16 March & Saturday 19 March, 2022
Choose whichever day works for you, or sign up for both.
Interested and available? Want to find out more? Drop us a line, we'd love to hear from you!
