October 2018
Kia ora everyone,
I hope you are all making the most of Spring.
I had another interesting month with a trip to the Gold Coast for the 2018 International Festival of Landscape Architecture, hosted by AILA. I got to spend some time with the IFLA President James Hayter, attend the 2018 AILA Awards Ceremony, catch up with the outgoing and incoming Boards of AILA, meet the new AILA President Shaun Walsh, sign our new MOU with AILA, as well as attend some of the excellent presentations during the Festival. The Festival theme of Expanding the Field: Charting the Future of Practice had some interesting twists. Some of the notable speakers included Professor Richard Weller and Martin Rein-Cano.
The new MOU between NZILA and AILA will allow us to more easily join forces with AILA in the future and paves the way for sharing ideas on both sides of the Tasman.
The last month has also seen more focus on the organisation of the 2019 NZILA Conference in November in Ōtautahi.
This week we are looking forward to the Executive meeting in Arrowtown on Friday. I will provide an update from the meeting next month.
As always, if you have anything you want to share with me, then please drop me a line,
Mā te wā,
Brad
