Kylie McLaughlin-Brown
Kylie McLaughlin-Brown has recently joined Parallax Consultants as part of a team of planners and surveyors based in Warkworth and is lucky enough to live in the beachside settlement of Mangawhai.
Kylie's attributes bring a unique combination to Parallax being both a planner and landscape architect and is a full member of both respective institutes. Kylie has over 16 years of experience in both fields of planning and landscape architecture.
Kylie first started her career 16 years ago where she was a policy planner at Whangarei District Council for 4 years and was responsible for implementing the Coastal Management Strategy and working with Beca on District Wide community consultation in preparing Structure Plans for a number of coastal communities. Kylie's time at Council also included involvement in the District Wide Landscape Assessment review.
Kylie then worked at a consultancy a little closer to home, based in Mangawhai where she worked with a team of planners and was the sole landscape architect for 12 years. With the combination of experience and disciplines Kylie worked on a variety of projects including subdivision and land use consents, landscape assessments, landscape plans for rural and coastal subdivisions, urban design, private plan changes and has been involved in a number of hearings and Environment Court mediation as a landscape architect and planner for both the applicant and as a consultant for a number of Councils.
Kylie is passionate about ensuring that development is undertaken in a manner which is responsive to the natural and physical attributes of the landscape and is interested in landscape assessment methodology and its evolution under the Resource Management Act.
