Update from Brad Coombs
Kia ora e te whanau,
In the last month we have been working hard to get logistics organised for the 2019 NZILA Tuia Pito Ora Conference. We are getting closer to finalising a location and a partner for the conference, which we will be able to share with you soon.
We have also updated the Landscape Guidelines briefing paper that was used for the basis of our discussion in May with the Minister of Conservation, the Honourable Eugenie Sage. The next stop (hopefully) is the Minister for the Environment, the Honourable David Parker. We will continue to make progress in the capital to get our voice heard.
Also in June; the organisers of the successful Urbanism New Zealand Conference held in May in Wellington made a move to get urban design on the agenda for the government. It’s great to see the quality design of our urban environments getting some attention at the national level. We have a number of members supporting this cause.
We have an Executive meeting in Tauranga on Friday; as well as a catch up with the local Central North Island branch and our business as usual on the agenda, we will be covering the 2019 Conference, the Landscape Guidelines project and we will be workshopping the governance review paper and recommendations. I will have an update from the meeting next month.
As always, if you have anything you want to share with me, then please drop me a line president@nzila.co.nz
Nga mihi,
Brad
