Shannon Bray - NZILA President
President Shannon Bray will leave the role at the AGM next month. He is hugely proud of the work the Institute is doing and the level of professionalism it’s displaying. “The NZILA is doing amazing work and is making its members very proud,” says Bray. “ An increasing number of people outside the profession are now aware of who we are and what we do, people want to join.”
Bray’s also proud to have been involved in the launch of the Landscape Architecture Aotearoa website. “When I see the projects and opinions showcased on LAA I see our profession is in really good heart.”
Bray says it was a tough decision to leave but he needs more time to focus on his small business. He believes it’s time for fresh thinking and will be on hand to ensure the smooth transition of his role.
NZILA fellow, Rachel de Lambert of Boffa Miskell says she’s saddened by the announcement adding the NZILA executive has been making good progress for the membership. “Shannon has put a huge amount of his personal energy and passion into the role, he’s been a great advocate for the profession in his time as President.”
NZILA COO Vicki Clague says Bray’s enthusiasm moved the Institute forward and his energy will be greatly missed. “I’m very happy he will continue to work with us on certain projects which will mean strong continuity for the Institute.”
Bray will close the upcoming NZILA Firth conference in his last act as president.
