About the role
At Boffa Miskell, landscape architecture is about creating meaningful design outcomes while also shaping places that strengthen connections between people and environment. We’re looking for up to two graduate or early-career Landscape Architects to join our teams in either Christchurch or Queenstown.
You’ll join a talented, passionate and fun team of landscape architects in a multi-disciplinary environment, working on a diverse mix of projects across Aotearoa. You’ll learn alongside experienced designers who enjoy sharing what they know, and we’ll also encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table.
You’ll provide design and production support across all stages of project delivery, so strong graphic communication and/or design documentation skills are essential. Beyond the studio, you'll also have opportunities to get onto site, undertaking site observations and working with contractors to see designs brought to life. Every day brings something different, with a mix of creative design, technical development, and hands-on project work.
About You
You are a recent graduate or have up to 5 years’ experience. You’re passionate about design and are keen to learn from a supportive team. You’ll also bring:
- Design and graphic skills: Strong graphic and hand-drawing skills, plus experience using a range of digital tools and techniques, including Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD and SketchUp. REVIT skills are a real bonus.
- Design process understanding: An understanding of how ideas are developed from concept design through to construction documentation.
- An eye for detail: A strong eye for detail, composition and visual communication
- Communication: The confidence and ability to communicate your ideas and design thinking clearly, thoughtfully and in an engaging way, both in writing and in person.
- Curiosity and initiative: A willingness to contribute ideas, ask questions and ask for guidance when you need it.
- Organisation: A proactive approach to managing your work and meeting deadlines.
- Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree (Hons) or master’s degree in landscape architecture
- Membership of the NZ Institute of Landscape Architects and an interest in achieving NZILA registration.
- A current full driver’s licence.
