Landscape Architect

Baxter Design is a well-established, boutique Queenstown / Arrowtown based consultancy, specialising in Landscape Architecture, Master Planning and Urban Design. Our office is based in Arrowtown. We are a 25-year established energetic practice with a national reputation that focuses on innovation and creativity. Our client base is nationwide and we pride ourselves on producing top quality work for a wide range of projects including masterplanning resorts, top end subdivision masterplanning, urban design work and residential design. We like to see our projects right thru to construction.
The job and what it is:
- We are looking for a talented Landscape Architect to join our team and work with us on a variety of jobs throughout New Zealand. We do require applicants for this job to have experience in a professional capacity, either in NZ or overseas.
- You won’t be asked to specialise, one day you will be working on a high-country township, the next day you could either be designing a main street or detailing a pool.
- You will always be part of a team, with support from the crew around you.
- We understand the realities of living costs, so you will be well remunerated for your hard work, with regular opportunities to review your position.
What we need from you:
- To be resourceful and able to solve problems and contribute to the design standards of the office.
- An ability to deal directly with clients, when required, with confidence and flair.
- Be able to convey ideas in hand sketch form (we’ll help you develop this skill), to a good preliminary presentation level, before turning on the computer.
- Be proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup and Photoshop, though not necessarily in all of these.
- Have a practical understanding of the basics of construction, how things work and, if you don’t know everything, be keen to ask the right questions and learn.
- You must be fluent in both spoken and written English and eligible to work in New Zealand. How we can help, should your application be successful:
