About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Landscape Architect to join our Design Studio. This position can be permanent or a fixed term contract of at least six months; we are flexible and open to discussing options with the right candidate.

Our Design Studio consists of leading urban designers and landscape architects who create holistic designs that combine considerations for our future generations and unique identity that makes Aotearoa special. Our Design Studio is a key part of HG's multi-disciplinary service, so you will be working and learning alongside our wider teams of engineers, planners, environmental specialists and surveyors to achieve fully-integrated design outcomes.

As a Senior Landscape Architect, you’ll combine your creative and technical expertise to lead thoughtful designs that shape the future of our local communities. From small and unique to complex large scale, your projects won’t just determine how we live, but also how we interact with our environment, each other and the world around us.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the completion of single and multi-disciplinary projects from concept to construction to bring environmental considerations and our community together.
  • Develop creative concepts and provide practical landscape architecture guidance.
  • Use landscape architecture software (such as CAD software, Adobe CS and Sketchup) to provide solutions, reports and drawings.
  • Work collaboratively with our Design Studio and communicate proactively with clients to build long-term and meaningful relationships.
  • Guide and coach junior team members to support their career growth.

Your skills and experience:

If you don’t meet every requirement listed below, we still welcome you to apply or reach out for a discussion. We value diverse and unique experiences that could contribute to our Design Studio.

  • 7 years’ experience delivering relevant urban design projects from master planning/concept design, contract documentation and contract administration.
  • A tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture (NZILA registered is a bonus).
  • Strong technical proficiency (including CAD software such as Vectorworks, Adobe CS and Sketchup).
  • Excellent knowledge of multi-disciplinary urban development projects including the application of urban design principles.
  • Brilliant design creativity and knowledge of sustainable design principles and practices.
  • Experience in implementing Te Aranga principles into designs and a desire to create collaborative outcomes with tangata whenua.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills plus the ability to establish collaborative relationships at multiple levels.
  • Personal leadership, motivation and self-management skills.

Why join HG?
