Landscape Development Advisor

About the role:

There is no such thing as a typical day in the life of a Council Landscape Development Advisor some days are spent out in the field completing hold-point inspections or meetings, other days will be spent inside approving resource consent applications and landscaping plans.

The key responsibility of this role is to ensure that works undertaken, and assets being vested, meet Councils expectations and the relevant legislation.

The Landscape Development Advisor is responsible for ensuring that the open spaces components of all developments meet the appropriate construction standards.

We do this by:

  • Imposing landscaping conditions on resource consents
  • Approving all landscaping design plans
  • Managing the construction phase of developments and ensuring all vested landscaping asset installation meets expected standards.
  • Reviewing all landscaping quality assurance documentation and issuing final acceptance of vested assets
  • Monitoring during the defect's liability period
  • Approving the release of uncompleted works and maintenance bonds
  • Regularly reviewing the Engineering Code of Practice Managing and growing strong working relationships with developers and contractors
  • Communicating with customers

The successful applicant should tick most of the following:

  • Experience with landscaping designs and reports
  • Skilled in landscaping design/construction standards and specifications
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a variety or stakeholders (consultants, developers, customers, contractors)
  • Landscaping design and/or construction experience, ideally you have experience working with landscaping on Public Parks/Reserves, streetscapes and stormwater management areas.
  • Experience working with resource consents.
  • Experience with document management and process documentation
  • You will be comfortable with changing dynamics and have the natural ability to roll with changes that occur in a dynamic environment.
