Manaaki Hapori ki Rangimatarau
Nau mai, haere mai ki te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka
Students from Lincoln University, Victoria University of Wellington, and Unitec landscape architecture programs are invited to a wānanga to be held at Ngākau Māhaki wharenui, Te Noho Kotahitanga marae, Unitec.
The purpose of the wānanga is to develop ideas and proposals for the future resilience and mauri ora of Te Waiunuroa o Wairaka, the aquifer-fed natural spring/punawai, as well as the stream/awa. Also, to consider impacts to te taiao/ the natural environment, in anticipation of development proceeding on land adjacent.
The hapori refers to the new community who will live nearby, the student community of Unitec, as well as the community of te taiao and ngā tamariki a Papatūānuku. Including manu, inanga, tuna, insects and plants and trees around the awa.
The program is to be held on Tuesday 11 October, in conjunction with the 2022 NZILA Firth Conference. The event is supported by Unitec and the Auckland Branch, New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Tuia Pito Ora

Design materials for the project, and lunch will be provided on site. A package of information and brief will be provided to all participants attending before the end of August.
