Friends of Mana Island Inc would like to invite you to a volunteer work party Friday 27 November – Sunday 29 November. Up to 17 volunteers are required.
 
Travel will be via Knuckle Charters Ltd, departing Mana Marina Friday 27 November at approximately 4pm and returning to the mainland Sunday 29 November at approximately 4pm. The travel costs are being funded by FOMI and DoC, but volunteers are required to supply all their own food. Accommodation is in the Lockwood house, which has two bunkrooms, fully equipped kitchen, showers, hot water, etc.
 
You will have an opportunity to explore the island whilst you are there, and if you are lucky you may spot some Rowi kiwi, Cook Strait weta, Takahe and more.
 
Jobs will be varied and include but not be limited to:

• Ngahere, green gecko and speckled skink monitoring
• Flax weevil night critter search, pitfall trapping
• Weed control – wetland, other
• WFSP burrow install, site tidy
• Track maintenance
• Beach litter survey
• Flax planting survey
• Special burrow install/Fluttering Shearwater burrow check
