The Urban Habitat Collective are a group of families working to build co-housing apartments which support community and satisfying urban living. Co-housing balances private space with the ability to share time and amenities with neighbours. While not the complete answer to New Zealand’s housing woes, cohousing does help address housing quality, better medium density development, lower carbon emissions through shorter commutes and better community connections. Two years in, the project has secured a site, is 80% subscribed
and is entering the developed design stage. Join co-founders Bronwen Newton and Jesse Matthews, who will be presenting on community building, structure and decision making and the design process of the project thus far.
